Many people dread the idea for creating a website because of the notion that they need to learn and master the coding skills to be successful. That was one of my challenges and fear that led me to postpone creating my first website.

However, you can create your new website in a matter of minutes. That’s right! creating a website nowadays has become very simple, in fact, the hardest thing will be creating traffic towards your site.

Considerations when creating a website

Before you decide to create a website for affiliate marketing, you need to consider some issues and answer the following questions.

1. Identify a niche -This is the segment of the larger market in which you shall be promoting. Different niches may have different needs, especially when designing a website.

  1. Web hosting – Identify the hosting company and the cost of hosting. There will be a recurring cost for hosting a website which you should put into consideration.

  2. Acquire a domain – A domain name is like your own property that forms your brand and will also attract a recurring cost. e.g. my domain in lov4affiliate.com as you can see from the top, nobody else has that and every year I have to pay around USD13 to continue having it.

  3. Training for the affiliate marketing- Unless you have prior knowledge, don’t dare to venture into this field without identifying a good training platform. This can make the difference between your success and failure.

What is the Importance of a Website for Affiliate Marketing

Importance Of A Website For Affiliate Marketing
In affiliate marketing, a website is super important:  I am aware of very many people who have been generating their income via social media like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Tiktok and YouTube, without even having a website, good for them. You need a website to guarantee your self a secured success for the following reasons.

What if Youtube or Facebook were to shut down their platforms tomorrow? That hopefully won’t happen soon, but they can still make changes that can greatly affect your business. Most of these social media platforms keep on making changes since they are trying to make money for their investors.

A good example is TikTok – In July 2020 TikTok has been banned in India and was facing the danger of closure in USA and Hongkong, (according to morningbrew.com). What if you were depended on that platform for your affiliate marketing, You would be left with an empty shell and start from square one.

This is your business that we are talking about here, and so you need to take some control of it. it will be too risky to leave your business in the hands of some other platforms like Linkedln, Twitter, or even Facebook.

Your website gives you full control over the experience of your audience and customers, unlike other platforms like Twitter and Facebook which are limited when it comes to providing a custom experience to your audience. You should make those places to be the origin of a conversation and always direct people back to your website, where all the action happens.

Using your website your customers can buy your products, visitors can click and share things mostly, and it’s where you can most easily build an email list.

You have your freedom of arrangement and leveraging on your site in any way you want including controlling adverts and any other stuff therein. If you are planning to be in affiliate marketing for long term purposes then you want to do it right by building your own website and be in control of your business.

Please don’t get me wrong, I am not proposing that you should do away with Facebook and Twitter or another favourite site, but my suggestion is that you should use them to drive traffic to your site and then do most of your business stuff from the website.

Using the website you can also increase your conversion rate using tools like squeeze pages, landing pages and forms which may not be the case in the social media platforms.

Having a website will make you look more professional and trustworthy among both visitors and large affiliate networks, but it’s not a must-have tool.

Some digital products require you to have a website so as to test them before recommending them to your visitors. Remember the key to affiliate marketing is a quality review and that doesn’t come out very well if you have not used the product.

Affiliate marketing without a website – Alternatives for website

Affiliate Marketing Without A Website 2
You as well consider using already existing platforms to do your business without necessarily building your own website. You have to be careful and read the terms of service for each before starting your business some of them may have certain requirements on how affiliate links may be used, and you are likely to have your account muted or closed if you don’t comply. Affiliate marketing without a website can be achieved through some of the following ways;

1. Use Affiliate programs that do not require a website.

A lot of well-known affiliate marketing programs would cooperate with affiliates who don’t have their own website. Some of the most common solutions include ClickBank and Amazon. It’s a great way to get started in the business.

2. Use other existing networks

There are numerous websites that are available to promote your products with your affiliate links. You can consider starting with boards and forums that are focused on topics relevant to your products. Whether its Udemy, Youtube or Medium.

For example, you can create captivating videos and post them on Youtube and start gaining traffic and you place your link there and Boom! you end up making good sales, as long as you can create enough subscribers. There is a lot of traffic out there and all you need is traffic to start selling.

3. Use social media

You can post your affiliate link on all social media websites from Tiktok to Facebook to Twitter,  however, you need to create a large social media following, you may then use that following to help you earn some revenue. If you’re are a starter, it is likely to take some time to grow a large and loyal following you can monetize from.

Final thoughts -Should you create a website for affiliate marketing?

We answered the following questions

Must you have A Website For Affiliate Marketing?

  • No, it’s not a must to have a website to do affiliate marketing;
  • Without a website you can promote your links on existing traffic, social media, and work with various affiliate programs;
  • Although the social sites are high traffic sites, you will still need to work hard to create trust and following so that you can be able to sell.

Do You Need A Website For Affiliate Marketing?

  • Ooooh yes, especially if you are planning to be in the affiliate marketing business for a long time.
  • Websites allow you to be in full control of your products and customers.
  • Website will increase your conversion rate through landing pages and forms
  • It’s easy to create an email list using your website.
  • Allows you to test digital products before recommending them.

In my view, while I think having your own website is a crucial aspect of your business, you can and should also take advantage of already hugely successful websites like Google, Facebook, Reddit, and many other resources that allow anyone to post and create content on their platform.

Even if you are not creating your website, there are rules to be followed in those other websites that have large traffic which you have to follow, so take your time to learn them.

If you need any help in setting up your site don’t hesitate to talk to me and I will be grand to help.

Personally I completely agree with you. All the long term affiliate marketers should have their own website as this create the authenticity of a site and thus products. However as you highlighted as well that it is possible to sell on other social media platforms but again you would have to follow their rules and guidelines. I know quite a few of YouTubers who do not have a personal website but are very successful financially. I wish you all the… Read more »

Welcome although most of those who earn from youtube do so from adverts and not affiliate marketing any products. It’s a good way of making an income by making quality videos. Youtube can also be a very good source of traffic to your site as well.
Thank you for your time
